Karoliina Niemi has a Master’s degree in forestry and a doctorate in philosophy, ecological sciences. She is an adjunct professor in plant ecophysiology. In her current position as a Manager, EU forest issues, in the Finnish Forest Industries Federation (FFIF) her main duties involve forest-related policies in the EU, including, bioenergy and sustainable forest management, forest biodiversity, and plant health. Moreover, she is a vice chair of the Board of FSC Finland. Before FFIF she worked as a researcher for more than 10 years and as a senior adviser in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and in the Central Union of Agricultural Producers and Forest Owners, MTK.
