Brief biographical statement, main interests for introductory purposes Javier Gil is the Director of the Biomass Department of CENER (National Renewable Energy Centre of Spain) since September 2015 coordinating the activities in several bioenergy fields: resources evaluation, sustainability studies, biofuels, bioproducts and thermochemical applications (torrefaction and gasification). He is Doctor in Science (Chemical Engineering program) by the University of Zaragoza. From 2002 to 2015 he also worked at CENER, first as senior researcher and later, from 2007, as Head of Thermochemical Applications Service. He has previously held various positions at the Fraunhofer UMSICHT Institute and the University of Zaragoza working in R&D in the field of biomass gasification and syngas cleaning.
